The name "HTC" comes from the similar names to Hitachi.
This software also contains the drivers needed to connect phones to PC. After you connect a phone, Windows will begin to install it. Once it has been installed and connected, pull down the notification bar and enable Mass Storage mode. Wait for Windows to install the drivers and then you can either access it through Sync manager or from your Computer section. It should have its own icon.
Reboot the PC to see the changes in case the phone is not installed upon connection.
